MasterChef UK filmed in Mauritius

The final four contestants of MasterChef UK had a unique culinary experience in Mauritius. The first challenge in Mahebourg was intense as the contestants had to compete by cooking traditional Mauritian food namely the “Dhollpuri, Gato Pima, Vindaye Poisson, Chatini Coco and Poutou”, which was later served to 15 local fishermen. The aim was to make the contestants discover the multicultural fusion cuisine of Mauritius and to master the different techniques used by Chef Moroogun Coopen, President of the Mauritius Chefs Association.

The second challenge included of Mauritian gastronomy and run by Executive Chef Nizam Peeroo, at the Labourdonnais Hotel in Port-Louis. The contestants were challenged to prepare and cook a dish from Chef Nizam Peeroo’s menu for the lunch service at the hotel.

The final challenge was to make the contestants feel confident and asked them to experiment the techniques and ingredients with never-done before dishes. A group of dedicated Mauritian professionals also joined to taste the four contestants’ dishes and advised them culinary experiences for the final.
