Nilen Vencadasmy, appointed as the new Chairman of the MTPA
Mr. Nilen Vencadasmy has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) with effect as from 1st March 2020.
Holder of an LLM in International Commercial Law from Université Paris II, Pantheon-Assas, Mr. Vencadasmy is a Barrister-at-Law with 15 years standing at the Mauritian Bar. Currently, he is also Counsel at Dentons’ Mauritius, the world’s largest Law Firm and first Global Law Firm to be established locally. He specialises in corporate and commercial law, and has a vast experience assisting foreign investors who wish to set up their businesses in Mauritius and to local businesses wishing to invest in Africa. He is equally a certified Mediator with MARC (MCCI Arbitration and Mediation Centre).
Mr. Vencadasmy was also a former lecturer in Tourism and Hospitality Laws at Vatel Mauritius and a former Head of Legal of Airport Terminal Operations Ltd. He is a former President of PILS, the leading AIDS prevention NGO in Mauritius and acted as a board member of Coalition International SIDA, an international network of AIDS prevention NGOs based in France.
The new Chairman who will play a key role at the MTPA, alongside public and private stakeholders stated:
