MTPA meets Italian Trade at TTG INCONTRI in Rimini, Italy

Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority participates at the main Italian fair of tourism industry.

Rimini, October 14th 2016 – MTPA renews its commitment in the promotion of the destination on the Italian market with its participation at TTG Incontri 2016, the most important Italian tourist gathering and the most important in Europe, which takes place at Rimini Fiera Expo Centre, Italy, from October 13th to 15th 2016.

In its 53rd edition, TTG Incontri will feature tourist business and the main players of the Italian and international tourism industry presenting the latest technologies, the most innovative studies and most effective trends of the industry. The halls of the west area of Rimini Expo Centre host over 130 tourist destinations and 2,500 enterprises and await trade members and buyers from 85 countries.

Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) participates at TTG Incontri with a delegation lead by Mr. Arnaud Martin, Chairman of MTPA and Roselyne Hauchler, Tourism Promotion Officer for the Italian market, who will meet travel agents, tour operator, travel and trade journalists at Mauritius stand PAD. C1, stand 92/93, together with Mauritian tourism industry partners: Air Mauritius, Beachcomber Hotels, LUX* Resorts and Hotels, Sun Resorts and the local DMCs Lotus Asia, Mauritours, Promotour.

Arnaud Martin, Chairman of MTPA, commented: "Like every year, TTG Incontri provides an important occasion for MTPA to meet operators and travel agents, as well as strengthen long lasting relationships and collaborations and create new ones. In 2015 Mauritius registered 1,151,723 international arrivals (+ 10.9% compared to 2014) and 880,890 international travelers from January to September 2016, up 9.7% from the previous year with a share of 55% from Europe, 25% from Africa, 17% from Asia. Europe saw an increase in arrivals in 2015 amounted to 10.7% driven in particular by the significant increase in flows from Germany and the UK but also countries such as Belgium, Sweden, Austria and Spain. "

"Italy has always been a key market for the destination, ranking 9th globally and 4th in Europe, after France, UK and Germany. Moreover, the Italian market has been showing in recent months a very positive trend, with a constant increase in the number of Italian tourists. Mauritius has welcomed for the period January - August 2016 17,836 Italian tourists, registering an increase of 9% over the same period in 2015. This trend is giving positive perspectives also for the end of 2016." concluded Mr. Martin.

MTPA has welcomed visitors, travel agents and media, together with partners, on October 14th at the stand for a degustation of local delicacies with a “Mauritius style” happy hour, including Mauritian rum accompanied by gateau piment, poulet croustillant, chutney and much more.

MAURITIAN INDUSTRY PARTNERS

With the occasion of TTG Incontri, tourism industry partners present the trends for the coming season: Air Mauritius announces the 2016-17 winter schedule with multi-daily flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle, in cooperation with its partner Air France, allowing a wider and more flexible range of timings to its customers, with convenient night flights and connections from the main Italian cities. Beachcomber Hotels & Resorts will present at TTG the renewed brand inspired by the concept "The Art of Beautiful" to celebrate the precious commitment of every member of the great Beachcomber family shairng values of attention to the customer to achieve higher and higher standards for their guests. LUX * Resorts and Hotels has recently received international awards as Luxury Hotel & Resort Operator of the Year at the TTG Travel Awards 2016, as well as the award at Food and Travel Reader Awards 2016 in the category "International Hotel of the Year" for the excellent culinary experience hotel LUX* Belle Mare offers. Another prestigious Mauritian hotel chain, Sun Resorts, will welcome visitors at MTPA stand to provide with materials and information about their facilities on the island.

The DMCs Lotus Asia, Promotour and Mauritours, for which the Chairman Stephane Leal is attending, will propose news related to itineraries created especially for all target of travelers who want to discover Mauritius, from the romantic itineraries dedicated to honeymooners and couples, to the bicycle or walking paths in the rainforest.
