Successful first day at ITB
ITB started on a very positive and successful note for the Mauritius delegation. More than 50 partners have proceeded to Berlin to attend the biggest tourism fair in the world. During the next three days, numerous trade and media appointments are happening at the Mauritius booth with key tour operators, tourism stakeholders and national media.
Recognition by German travel business – JT Touristik Award
Mauritius was honored as the “The island with the most beautiful hotels in the Indian Ocean” by JT Touristik, one of the major tour operators in Germany. Mauritius is especially known for the great serviceand first-class hospitality in the German market.
Productive meetings with key players
The Mauritius delegation had fruitful meetings with important key players like:
- TUI board members and Managing Director
- Emirates Chief Commercial Officer
- High level interviews of Honorable Anil Gayan with leading travel trade magazine and several luxury, golf & lifestyle magazines
- Meeting with the most important German TOs
A cocktail event was held on the stand by the MTPA in collaboration with Air Mauritius to thank all our stakeholders
Mauritius is performing a remarkable growth on the German market and tourist arrivals have grown by 37.9 % with 103,761 tourists compared to 75,237 in 2015. The growth momentum is expected to continue. For January, the market registered a growth of 9.2 % with 8,664 tourists compared to 7936 in 2016.
The Hon. Minister Anil K.Gayan emphasized that Mauritius is an attractive destination for German and international travelers for many reasons, such as its reputation of being a very safe destination and numerous attractions. He also stressed on the collaboration between the private and public sector towards positioning the tourism industry as a sector that can benefits all.
